New at GPTG: A.P.C. (UPDATED)

Posted Jul 28, 2008 by Emanuel in a.p.c., apc

Known primarily for its denim among jean connoisseurs worldwide, Atelier de Production et de Création (better known as A.P.C.) has made its arrival in stores at Gravity Pope Tailored Goods. Along with their standard cuts of denim, we've also received some nifty objéts to compliment the order.

Incredibly stiff and unprocessed, the A.P.C. denim is the most raw of all the unwashed indigo jeans we have in store. Be sure to buy them as tight in the waist as you can--due to their raw state, you'll find that these jeans will stretch out and not shrink back in size after wearing them in. Part of the joy of these jeans is the process of breaking them in: don't expect comfort for the first week or so. But once you've made the denim truly your own, you'll love your pair for being especially unique to your own body.

The three main cuts are organized by the width of the leg. The Rescue is the widest jean for those looking for a more relaxed look. The New Standard is a straight leg jean (the jean APC is most known for) and the New Cure is the tightest fit that comes in a mens (New Cure Homme) and womens (New Cure Femme) fit.

Check out this denim washing guide for tips on how to wear in your denim!

Preen A/W 08! UPDATED

Posted Jul 17, 2008 by ari in preen

Newly arrived at GPTG is my favorite women's collection on the planet: Preen by Thornton Bregazzi.

Justin Thornton and Thea Bregazzi met at the age of 18 and started designing together in 1996. Perennial darlings of London fashion week, for the past two seasons Preen has stolen the show in New York as well. A favorite of stylists, Preen has grown a long list of high profile celebrity clients including Gwyneth Paltrow, Kate Moss and Chloe Sevigny.

With the introduction of Preen to GPTG's fall line up it might be a good time to remind everyone that Gravity Pope does offer a layaway plan, and with winter still months away there is plenty of time to pay down that stunning pleated back duffle coat before you'll need to pull it off the hanger.

Here's two of the jackets in their runway show that we just got in:

Whyte Avenue Art Walk

Posted Jul 11, 2008 by Emanuel in events

For those of you in Edmonton wanting to make the most of summer and soak up some rays outdoors, come on down to Whyte Ave and experience art in action with this year's Art Walk Festival. Running from July 11 to 13, over 230 visual artists have set up sidewalk studios in front of Old Strathcona businesses.

"For three days, visual arts infuses Old Strathcona with a rich texture of art making and bohemian artistic spirit. The studios move into the streets where art makers and art admirers share in the romance of creation and construction. We invite you to explore the diverse, creative energy and meet some undiscovered masters. It is an open accepting space.

Since 1995, we have been bringing art back to its roots of free speech and expression. The Whyte Avenue Art Walk has become an eclectic visual feast with something for everyone."
