Moncler is a famous name that is familiar to anyone who loves the mountains and easy wear: easy wear is trendy. But few know that the name comes from the abbreviation of Monestier de Clermont, a place near Grenoble where, in 1952, René Ramillon and André Vincent founded what would become one of the most famous companies in the sector, later creating jackets for the French team during the 1968 Grenoble Olympics. Credited with creating the first down jacket, the brand has since grown to its present upscale standing, having produced collaborations with Balenciaga, Junya Wantanabe, Yohji Yamamoto and Fendi.
