gravitypope Calgary

Building upon gravitypope's cult reputation in Edmonton as one of the most unique shoe stores in the province, a second gravitypope location was opened in June 2000 in Calgary on the popular 17th Avenue, known for trendy shopping and entertainment.

The opening of the second gravitypope shoe store was greatly anticipated and appeased the numerous shoe fans in Calgary who were willing to make the three-hour drive to find great footwear. The store was very much a 'family' effort. Gravitypope was still a very small company, so the original shelving in the store was procured from the Fluevog store in Vancouver. Louise Dirks painted the store with help from friends and the store manager Jody Kirk slept in the basement of the store until she found a place to live in Calgary, having moved there from Edmonton.

The grand opening was an event unlike anything in gravitypope's history. Jon Fluevog was in attendance along with several local celebrities. The opening of the second shoe store in Calgary was the first step to building the gravitypope empire!
