Adidas began small by producing soccer and running shoes, products that the brand is still mainly known for even today. Many attribute Adidas' momentum over the years to its quality, styling, and reputation. Adidas' trademark triple-striped track and field gear was much prized among American high school students throughout the 70s. In 1984, rappers Run DMC praised the company's shell-toed sneakers in "My Adidas." In 1990, U.S. style-mongers like the Beastie Boys and the Digable Planets soon joined in the new wave of Adidas popularity. Adidas continues to set the bar for style in sport, music and lifestyle with re-issues of classic Adidas styles and collections of limited edition sneakers being snapped up by sneaker freaks around the world.
