Blundstone has roots dating back to the mid 1800's, formed by families of experienced shoe manufacturers.
In 1979, Blundstone shoes became the first Australian footwear manufacturer to receive a Design Award from the Industrial Design Council of Australia.

In 1986, Blundstone was the recipient of an Australian Export Award.

In 1989, they commenced the manufacturing of waterproof injection moulded shoes (gumboots).
