Born in 1835, William Green moved to the English county of Northamptonshire at the age of 4. This county is known as the home of the English shoemaker’s art and where William Green learned to handcraft boots from his mother until 1860. In 1866, William Green & Son was formed and soon became known for consistency of craftsmanship and materials. The ‘Grenson’ identity was formed in 1913 and was one of the first brand names to be registered in the UK. With Goodyear welted production at the heart of the Grenson business, the company has also introduced the Grens-In Sole to provide soft underfoot flexibility. Innovation in design and use of materials has kept Grenson modern while retaining the heritage and craftsmanship that confirms Grenson as England’s master shoemakers since 1866. |
