Born in Hartford, Conneticut, Rachel Comey began by designing only menswear. Her clothing quickly gained popularity with women who started buying up her menswear in the smallest sizes they could find. Due largely to the reaction to her menswear line, Rachey Comey has shifted her focus with more of an emphasis on womenswear. Comey's portfolio also includes an inspired collection of well-crafted footwear for both men and women.

Since launching her brand in 2001, Comey has collected a number of celebrity loyalists including the likes of David Bowie, Maggie Gyllenhaal, and Adrien brody. Comey's designs were also featured in the 2002 Whitney Biennial. Combining vintage inspirations and chic urban styles, Rachel Comey's designs reveal her history while simultaneously pushing the fashion envelope.
