In 1923, German shoemaker Albert Messmer designed the first soccer cleat in a response to the lack of traction a soccer team was experiencing during rainy games. This was the keystone to what has become the performance footwear and athletics company Hummel.

Gaining attention through the 60's, Hummel began producing some of Europe’s leading athletic apparel before making a new home in Denmark. With the chevron and bumblebee logo firmly anchored in Europe, Hummel became the official brand of the Danish National Soccer Team in 2004 and in 2010, launched in North America.
