In 1944, while serving in the British Army, Nathan Clark noticed the boots worn by British Army officers, a simple suede boot with crepe sole. Convinced this could be a new signature style for his family’s 125 year-old footwear company, he immediately embarked on creating prototype patterns. Upon his return to England, he sourced the finest materials and craftsmen to transform his idea into reality. The Original Desert Boot was first launched in 1949 using the finest materials. It sparked a lot of interest with its simple silhouette & unusual crepe sole. The Clarks Desert Boot was declared as the world’s first true “dress casual” shoe.
Clarks Originals are iconic styles from the Clarks archives including the Original Desert Boot & the Clarks Wallabee. Each season Clarks Originals builds on its classic silhouettes by offering new materials as well as various collaborations with leading popular brands.
