Inspired by Japanese 'Zori' wooden sandals, a Brazilian version is born in 1962, called Havaianas. The Brazilian difference: rubber. A natural domestic product that was durable, comfortable and inexpensive. It wasn't until 2000 that they began to be exported around the world, starting the craze that found these simple flip-flops everywhere from the streets of Europe to Sao Paulo Fashion Week to the Oscars.
