New Balance

In 1906 British born William J. Riley started the New Balance Arch Support Company in the United States. William believed, by creating a three point support system in arches, one could attain perfect balance and increased comfort.

After 50 years in the business Riley sold the company to his daughter and son-in-law who continued to make and sell arches and other accessories before designing the "Trackster" in 1960. This was the world’s first running shoe with a ripple sole as well as the first running shoe to come in varying widths.

Today, the company has partnerships with many sports leagues and teams. New Balance maintains a commitment to domestic manufacturing and has multiple factories around the United States as well as factories in Europe, which cater to the European market.
