gravitypope recently caught up with our Edmonton team to capture staff showcasing their favourite new FW24 pieces. We also took the opportunity to ask them about their latest music, TV shows, and book recommendations, as well as their top fall trends and favourite neighbourhood spots.

What is a favourite item from the shop that you have been coveting?
My favourite item right now is the Sarahwear Becky Dress in the color Brown, I am obsessed with it!
Have you been listening, watching, or reading anything lately?
I have been loving the reality TV series, Secret Lives of Morman Wives and have been listening to a lot of a band called Ocean Alley.
What are some go-to neighbourhood spots of yours?
I really like PACT for my daily coffee and baked items, have also been loving a recent find called Rice Bowl Deluxe that my coworker showed me.

What are some trends you’re seeing for fall?
I'm seeing a lot of brown & burgundy colours for fall, which I love. Lots of maxi skirts/ baggy sweaters & as someone who loves baggy streetwear this hits home. I want to be cozy at all times.
What is a favourite item from the shop that you have been coveting?
I've been slowly replacing my shoe collection, I just got a new pair of New Balance 550s (the ones I'm wearing actually) but I'm after the black suede Birkenstock Boston's & a pair of Slip-on Vans in the white/grey checker! Clothing-wise I either want a Sarahwear Raglan cardigan or a Carhartt Shirt Jacket.
Have you been listening, watching, or reading anything lately?
For Podcasts I've been obsessed with CreepCast, it's basically two guys reading old scary stories (Creepypasta's iykyk), very nostalgic. I've been listening to a lot of music from when I was younger; notably Asking Alexandria, $uicideboy$, Pierce the Veil & Black Veil Brides. Travis Scott also (finally) put Days Before Rodeo onto Spotify so that's been on repeat. I just finished reading The Child Who Lived by Ellie Midwood, it's a WWII fiction book inspired by true events, so good, so heart-wrenching.

Have you been listening, watching, or reading anything lately? Low Roar's eponymous album is always good, but the moody and subdued composition makes for an especially fantastic soundtrack for my favourite season. I've also been listening to a lot of Deftones for some reason; I don't particularly enjoy most of their music, but Saturday Night Wrist has a ton of great tracks that are nice to keep coming back to.
What are some go-to neighbourhood spots of yours? Big shoutout to Nhon Hoa sandwich bar for a mean banh mi, probably my favourite sandwich in the city. JMT also opened up relatively recently, straight up the best Korean fried chicken around the ave.
What is your favourite thing about fall, or do you have any big fall plans? Everything about fall is pretty wicked; cooler temps, gorgeous colours, and cozy overcast skies. There's no better time to be outside, and I love to be outside.

What are some trends you’re seeing for fall?
TONS of texture! I think many people are interested in layering different textures, or even just trying out different types of textured details on garments. It just adds another dimension of detail to an outfit.
What is a favourite item from the shop that you have been coveting?
I already have a similar pair, but it would be the Studio Nicholson Chalco Pant in the deep, deep, dark indigo colour. It's just sooOOOooo big and fun. I literally dream about them.
Have you been listening, watching, or reading anything lately?
This is such a guilty pleasure of mine, and I hate to admit this, but the show I'm currently obsessed with is Emily in Paris. The corniness of the drama, plot, and acting is just so silly. I've also been really enjoying listening to horsegirrL and Linda Perhacs.

What is a favourite item from the shop that you have been coveting?
Every winter I tell myself "This is the year I buy a Jo Gordon scarf" - It hasn't happened yet, but it's one of my favourite orders to write every year. Jo's eye for colour is brilliant and the knits are genuinely some of the best on the market.
Have you been listening, watching, or reading anything lately?
BRAT
Had to - but now that's out of the way, honestly, 2024 has actually been wild in terms of music releases. Most recently, I've been stuck on Charm by Clairo - hadn't been a huge Clairo fan prior to this album, but I think she did such a fantastic job with this one. Her lyricism is irreverent and wistful and it's supplemented with a sonic landscape that's playful, emotive, and steeped in a coziness that's perfect for autumn. In stark contrast, Jamie xx's In Waves is a triumph - the collabs with Honey Dijon, Robyn, and The Avalanches truly send me into orbit. Also, our Canadian queen Nelly Furtado is back with a new album and it has some great tracks including a beautiful collab with Charlotte Day Wilson. Special mention to JADE (formerly of Little Mix) who released one of the most surprising (read: incredible) debut solo records of the year, Angel of My Dreams.
What is your favourite thing about fall, or do you have any big fall plans?
Moving from Winter to Spring to Summer always feels so hectic to me. An intensifying energy of expectation of the exploits of the summer seems to fill the air until we see the first leaves turn to yellow in August. The reverse process is what I love about fall. The way that the leaves slowly accumulate on lawns and streets seems to slow the earth itself. Autumn is contemplative, comforting - steeped in the memories of a summer enjoyed, and carving space for the joys that hold us upright through the cold of winter.

What are some trends you’re seeing for fall?
I’m a big fan of handbags, and I find it really exciting to see brands increasingly designing bags specifically for men. It’s refreshing to watch the evolution of men’s fashion accessories, as more brands recognize that style and functionality should be accessible to everyone, regardless of gender.
What is a favourite item from the shop that you have been coveting?
I’ve got my eye on so many new pieces from Fall 2024! The buying team has truly outdone themselves this season. If I had to choose just one item, it would definitely be the cardigan with rips from Neirami. It’s such a unique and stylish piece!
Have you been listening, watching, or reading anything lately?
My music taste is quite broad, but recently I’ve been really enjoying Hinds’ latest album, “VIVA HINDS.” In addition to that, I always have Peggy Gou, Rosalía, and María Escarmiento on my playlist. They each bring something unique that I just can’t get enough of!

What are some trends you’re seeing for fall?
The juxtaposition of garments, materials, and forms. In particular, the dichotomous styling or pairing of seemingly disparate aesthetics, for instance, tailored suiting and utilitarian outdoorswear/ gorpcore accessories; lacy prairie dresses and Realtree camo; traditional workwear and ballet flats; et cetera. I am personally very into the reinvention of Midwestern Gothic/ Regional aesthetics!
Have you been listening, watching, or reading anything lately?
Cindy Lee's most recent album, Diamond Jubilee, has been my obsession since it was released, and I will contend that it is one of the greatest works that I have ever listened to and experienced. gravitypope Community Series ft. Cindy Lee please thank u. (Also listening to/ watching a lot of video essays, especially those of Khadija Mbowe and Mina Le! I think that video essays might be one of my most favourite contemporary media formats).
What is your favourite thing about fall, or do you have any big fall plans?
Lots of knitting and strolls with my cat. I've also been feeling pretty burnt out recently, so I'm hoping to be able to move myself back into my artistic practice and get some new projects/ works going!

What are some trends you’re seeing for fall?
I think the baggy-on-baggy trend will be amplified even more with the coming chilly weather and I am here for it!

Probably just any of the Lauren Manoogian knitwear.

I am really enjoying Dummy's new album! And also always love me some Cindy Lee <3

What are some trends you’re seeing for fall?
The usual stuff (knitwear, solid colours, straight silhouettes) of course, but this year I've especially been pulling from and looking for layering. It's neat to me how something as simple as a pair of tights or letting a thermal undershirt peek through can really add to an outfit.
Have you been listening, watching, or reading anything lately?
I've been super into the X-Men lately. Since April-ish, I've been reading all of the original Uncanny X-Men comics from the 60's. It's neat seeing how much language and culture has changed even since then. The art style is super sweet too.
What are some go-to neighbourhood spots of yours?
If I have time in the morning before I work on the sales floor, I'll make sure to go to Take Care Cafe. It's definitely a treat for me but always worth the trek. Plus, I'd do anything for their iced matcha latte.

Have you been listening, watching, or reading anything lately?
I saw one of my favourite bands Greet Death in Chicago this summer, so any of their albums have been consistently in my rotation. Otherwise, still lots of Carly Rae Jepsen.
What are some go-to neighbourhood spots of yours?
Have to give a massive shoutout to Boxer. Love that place.
What is your favourite thing about fall, or do you have any big fall plans?
Love me a good crunchy step on a leaf. I don't get to travel much because I'm still in University, so maybe next year I'll get to actually enjoy some time off.

What are some trends you’re seeing for fall?
Some trends that I have seen for fall are a lot of vibrant coloured clothing and layering them together almost like a mismatched look but still works together.
What is a favourite item from the shop that you have been coveting?
A favourite item that I have seen in our clothing store is the whole outfit that I'm wearing in my staff style and also one of Sofie D'Hoore's bomber jackets.

Recently I have been listening to a lot of Magdalena Bay and Chappell Roan.
